Lunit is a medical AI company whose mission is to conquer cancer through artificial intelligence. We provide ‘Lunit Insight’, a cancer diagnosis solution using artificial intelligence technology, and ‘Lunit Scope’, a solution for predicting anticancer drug effects, contributing to increasing the survival rate of cancer patients.
Lunit has been expanding its business targeting overseas markets since the beginning of its business. Currently, Lunit’s AI solutions are provided to more than 700 locations around the world through partnerships with major global medical device companies such as GE Healthcare, Philips, and Fujifilm. As such, we are establishing ourselves as a global leading company in the field of digital healthcare, recognized for our technological prowess and necessity overseas.
Challenge
Lunit builds and operates a hybrid cloud environment that uses both cloud and IDC servers and a multi-cloud environment that utilizes multiple cloud platforms. AWS is used for all basic infrastructure configurations required to provide services, and Google Cloud is used for AI training and engine training. Also, within AWS, multiple root accounts are created to use multiple Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs).
In such an environment, there was a lot of communication between the on-premise server and the cloud platform, such as development itself being done at the IDC center, but results being executed in the cloud. To make this more convenient and secure, it was necessary to build a private network.

Using AWS Site-to-Site VPN and AWS RAM, the on-premise server and multiple VPCs in AWS are designed to operate as a single network.
* This is a configuration to aid understanding, and is different from the actual architecture.
1) AWS Site-to-Site VPN
First, I created a Site-to-Site VPN connection to the VPC and Transit Gateway in one root account . This made it possible to access the on-premises network from the VPC. Site-to-Site VPN uses an IPSec (Internet Protocol Security) VPN connection, which authenticates and encrypts each IP packet during communication, allowing for more secure communication.
2) AWS Resource Access Manager (RAM)
Next, I shared the root account’s VPN connection that I initially created through AWS RAM to another root account. It was convenient to be able to easily share a Transit Gateway with a VPN connection already created without having to manually access each root account to create a VPN connection.
Through this process, it is really convenient and satisfying to be able to share the results developed by IDC directly to the cloud infrastructure and safely share the necessary resources with other root accounts without exposing them to the outside world.

1) Cloud data migration support
In the process of building a cloud environment for AI learning, it was necessary to reliably migrate large amounts of training data. Since it is difficult to transfer data all at once, it was expected to take a lot of time and effort. Bespin Global helped us install a dedicated line, so we were able to transfer data quickly and reliably.
2) Multi-cloud integrated billing service
I am using various cloud platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud, and it is convenient because I pay by integrating the cost through Bespin Global. You can use the cloud at a more reasonable cost because Bespin Global offers various pricing policies and cost reduction plans without having to directly compare or search for prices.
3) Multi-cloud management platform OpsNow
Bespin Global’s CMP solution, OpsNow, has been introduced and used. Without having to access each cloud platform and account one by one, OpsNow is very helpful because you can see all cloud usage at once. In particular, the ability to collect and display resources that are not used infrequently was useful. So, we deleted a lot of unnecessary instances, and we expect cost savings in the future.
