G-Bike is a company that operates the personal mobility sharing service platform ‘GCOO’. Starting as a shared bicycle service in 2017, we provide a variety of short-distance transportation services such as electric kickboards and electric bicycles based on the slogan ‘Mobility Evolution for All’. Ziku’s mobility devices are characterized by being equipped with AIoT (Intelligent Internet of Things) such as GPS, IoT (Internet of Things), cameras, and driver assistance systems (ADAS) for user safety.
Currently, Ziku service is being operated in Korea, Thailand, and the United States, and is about to be launched in Vietnam. In 2022, it achieved cumulative sales of KRW 100 billion for the first time in the industry, and cumulative ridership exceeded 80 million rides. In this way, G-Bike plans to continue to expand its global presence and continue its rapid growth to innovate short-distance travel culture not only in Korea but around the world, and to lead the future mobility market.


Challenge
G-Bike built its entire IT infrastructure environment on AWS from the beginning. We are continuously revising and supplementing security, resource management structure, and network architecture to enable more systematic management even when the business expands in the future. Additionally, unlike many companies that operate web-based services, G-Bike utilizes IoT to collect various movement data. In this process, we are utilizing various services within AWS necessary for MQTT* communication, TCP* communication, etc.
* MQTT: Protocol suitable for device-to-device communication (M2M) such as IoT and mobile apps

Why did you need a prototyping program?
To replace the batteries of Ziku mobility devices, local camp operators previously assigned workers considering various conditions. The battery transport truck’s travel route also required staff to calculate the optimal route one by one. Therefore, it was necessary to efficiently improve the processing process, which is highly dependent on humans, and to this end, we began creating prototyping* to automate battery replacement task allocation.

Why did you need ISMS-P certification audit consulting?
G-Bike is receiving ISMS-P certification to enhance personal information and provide safer services. However, the screening criteria were only based on on-premise standards and were different from the cloud environment, so there were many ambiguous aspects. There was no internal experience in conducting ISMS-P certification in a cloud environment. So, in a cloud environment, clear guidelines were needed on how to specifically respond to ISMS-P certification.

[AWS Prototyping Program]

We introduced the ‘ AWS Prototyping Program ’ to quickly implement prototyping ideas . First, we used prototyping engineers at AWS to understand how we currently perform our work, analyzed requirements, and identified areas that needed improvement. Based on this, we set the development topic and scope and established two major goals.
The first is to strengthen our ability to develop optimized applications using the AWS Cloud. To this end, we first introduced various DevOps technologies such as AWS-based IaC (Infrastructure as Code) and CI/CD pipeline. The second was to obtain an early version of the route optimization application for the battery replacement task. Considering constraints, complexity, and architecture, we applied the ‘nearest neighbor algorithm’ and the ‘geospatial index’ for quasi-real-time services. During this process, we checked the progress through sprints and were able to complete the final product without any problems.
The AWS Prototyping program helped us implement efficient prototypes that met our expectations, as well as ensure scalability, flexibility, security, and reliability. Fast development speed, cost savings, and easy management and deployment are also big advantages. Prototypes derived through the AWS prototyping program will be provided to actual users to collect feedback. Through this, we plan to supplement and advance the improvements and utilize them in the actual operation process.
[AWS ISMS-P Certification Review Consulting]
Through AWS consulting, we are in the process of obtaining ISMS-P certification in a method suitable for the cloud environment. For example, the clear guidance that firewalls can be handled with the AWS Cloud Security Group was very helpful. We were also provided with an automated tool to periodically check for violations. It is provided as a CloudFormation template and can be easily applied to quickly identify and respond to authentication violations. It is useful because it sends an alarm when a resource violation occurs and informs you of improvement measures based on the diagnosis results, so you can use it on your own even after consulting.
