SureCar is a company that provides services necessary for the entire ‘car life cycle’, including long-term car rental/lease, transfer/transfer, and used car purchase. Through collaboration with more than 300 domestic capital companies and rental companies, we are operating ‘Sure Car’, which specializes in used cars, and ‘New Car Dream’, which specializes in new cars.
To lead the growing automobile finance market, we also developed an ERP solution to help partner company salespeople manage their customers. By providing a stable, cloud-based system, more than 1,500 sales representatives are currently using Surecar’s ERP solution with satisfaction.


Challenge
In the early days of the business, we operated servers in a co-location format by purchasing on-premise servers directly and outsourcing them to professional companies. As the business expanded, the number of required functions increased, and the application design method was switched to MSA (MicroService Architecture) to respond more quickly.
However, as the number of modules increased to more than 40, there were limitations in uploading them all to the existing on-premise server. It was possible to purchase 2-3 additional servers, but the cost was temporarily too high, and more importantly, it was not clear whether the number of servers would be sufficient. Accordingly, I decided to introduce Kubernetes and move to the cloud. After comparing various cloud platforms, I chose Google Cloud as the most reasonable one.

SureCar is currently using two regular clusters and one autopilot cluster on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). Kubernetes can be created quickly, and since it is managed by Google Cloud, the availability of the cluster is guaranteed, making it convenient. In addition, all necessary infrastructure such as Artifact Registry, SQL, Cloud Storage, and Nat are using Google Cloud.

1) Server management time has been reduced from 20 hours per month to 0 hours.
When using an on-premise server, I had to spend more than an hour every day managing the server. This is because servers often go down when traffic increases. However, after introducing Google Cloud, even if the number of users increases rapidly, there is no impact on the service, and if there is an issue that needs to be checked, Alert Now sends a notification right away, so there is no need to manage the server separately.
2) Security has been further strengthened with the cloud transition.
SureCar strictly manages security to protect personal information. However, on-premise servers were vulnerable to external attacks, so a separate physical firewall had to be installed and monitored on a regular basis. Google Cloud’s firewall and cluster settings are more detailed, and IPs constantly change, making it impossible to access from the outside, making it possible to protect personal information more safely.
3) Infrastructure was built at a more reasonable cost.
On-premise servers require a lot of time and manpower to manage, and additional costs continually arise because servers must be purchased continuously as services expand. However, because the cloud incurs costs according to the amount used, there is no burden when expanding infrastructure, and there is no need for permanent personnel to manage servers, resulting in significant savings in labor costs.
