Team Sparta is a startup that provides software (SW) education with the goal of ‘creating a world where everyone can do great things.’ Various education programs such as ‘Sparta Coding Club’, the No. 1 coding education program in Korea, ‘Sailing 99’, an online coding education boot camp for people who want to grow as developers, and {Chang}, a start-up boot camp for those who want to start a business and create their own business. We are providing services. In the first half of 2022, the number of new members exceeded 100,000, an increase of 184%, and sales exceeded 10.5 billion won, increasing 243%, continuing rapid growth.
Team Sparta supports the entire process from training development talent to hiring. As part of this, we also operate ‘Intellipick’, a platform specializing in developer recruitment. From a company’s point of view, applicants can be easily managed without complicated procedures, and applicants can receive resume feedback and 1:1 mock technical interview services. Currently, over 1,000 companies are actively using it.


Challenge
From the beginning, Team Sparta has been actively using cloud and SaaS, including AWS, to configure its infrastructure and development environment. The biggest reason to use the cloud is speed of business. In an on-premise environment, it is bound to take at least a week from service planning to actual deployment. However, in a cloud environment, it is possible to deploy on the same day as planned if the development speed is supported. Additionally, due to the nature of the educational platform, there are seasons when customers flock, such as Chuseok and New Year. In a situation where the number of customers is at least 10 times or as much as 50 times more than usual, it is difficult to quickly expand infrastructure and respond in an on-premise environment. By using the cloud, we are free from such worries and concerns and are able to provide stable services. So now I can’t imagine working without using the cloud.
As the business grew, one of the biggest needs in terms of infrastructure was ‘I wish there was a teacher next to me who could have discussions.’ As we grow rapidly, our infrastructure becomes more complex and there are more things to consider. 1) Cloud security consulting
Among the many services provided by Bespin Global, the cloud security report and checklist were really helpful. Cloud security is a very important and basic area in operating a service, but it is not easy to take care of it yourself. However, we are now referring to the cloud security checklist provided by Bespin Global and reflecting it one by one. 2) Easy cloud resource and cost management
We monitor the cloud status by period and area through OpsNow 360’s ‘integrated cloud resource management’ function.
